Young chemists discover the work of Belinka Perkemija

“What does Belinka Perkemija produce? Do they have their own laboratories? What are the large tanks and towers visible from the road?” These and many other questions were answered during a visit of pupils from Dragomelj Primary School to our laboratories.

The pupils attend the elective subject Experiments in Chemistry and showed great curiosity about our work – perhaps some future chemists and colleagues are already among them. They were initially surprised to learn that Belinka Perkemija does not produce paints, but manufactures hydrogen peroxide, sodium perborate and peracetic acid.

We guided them through the colourful world of the development laboratory and the quality control laboratory, where practical experiments helped us present our products and production programme in an engaging way. The visit also included a few mental challenges in the form of chemical formulas.

The final quiz confirmed that the pupils gained a lot of new knowledge. They returned home enthusiastic – almost like real young chemists.

We expect to present our work and working environment to interested secondary school pupils and students in the near future as well.
